something finally broke.. the trans... i need some tips and advice

hello all. the time has finally come where i broke something major for the 1st time on my car. the trans. how it happened was like this. i was getting on the high way and i was in 3rd gear. i looked behind me as i was getting on and saw no one coming or in front of me. so i ''as most of us do'' decide to do a 3rd and 4th gear pull. i had to get my ''fix'' for the day. will i shifted into 4th just fine. and around 6k rpm at WOT BOOOOM clink clank i lost 4th gear. so i put the car in 5th and get off the high way. i come to a red light and i put it in 1st gear. 1st to second was fine. then i go to put it in 3rd and its like i lost the syncros cause it just grinds and only gos in once the gear is matched to the rpm. 4th is totally gone and 5th and reverse is a p.i.t.a. to get into. so whatever happened it did a good job on the rest of the trans. so clearly i need a rebuilt trans. so im making this post to get some info on what would best fit me and my needs. here is a little about the car

2003 evo 8
5 speed stock trans
64k miles HARD
exedy twin with around 35k miles.
for 50k i only used bg syncroshift II fluids.

usage of the car
drag race at the track
and a killer street/highway car.

here are my plans. depending on how the clutch looks when i get in there to see it i am replacing it either with another exedy twin or a quartermasters twin disk. this is set in stone for me.

EDIT..... car is off to dog box racing tomorrow. for a complete trans, t/c, clutch and quaife overhaul.

had the same issue with my car but i was locked out of all my gears... i could onlly shift by rev matching... and as most cases the retaining clip popped out and yeaa mmm prepare for the worst i would say but it could possibly be the slightest thing such as your clip as well..

if it is your tranny then well that build is up to youu!
Either way SHEP is the man

I would do a evo IX first gear but other than that just get the rebuild kit. If your pushing HUGE HP you really don't need any other option. Instead of using BG synrcoshift II shep recommends Redline lightweight shockproof. I was running BG synrcoshiff II in my shep tranny for a bit and it was not shifting smooth at all. I switched to Redline lightweight shockproof and it shifts so much smoother.
