very dumb question

i sent my transfer case to shep over the winter and had the stage 1 with REMisf done. when he got it he told me about the fact that the 03 evos had the open front diff and that if i wanted to up my power it was a good idea to put a quaife in. at the time i didnt have the 1500 extra to put it in. so now im figuring out all my pricing and when i look at the websites for the quaife i c front diffs and center diffs. the open diff that i need to replace is in the transfer case, right? so is it actualy a center diff that i need to buy or is it still called a front diff even though its behind the transmission?

sorry for the stupid question but none of the sites r helping since sometimes they label it as front and sometimes as the center.

You need a Front LSD. The 03 - 04 came with an open front diff
