OK so here is the story.....

Came home from work and turned off the car and when i was walking in front of the car i could hear the turbo slowing down which is normal, but it seemed louder than normal. I popped the hood jumped back in the car and re started it and turned it off again. Went back to the front of the car and the noise was I THINK louder then normal coming from the turbo. Almost as if the bearing was going. There is only 4k miles on the turbo. I took the intake off and there is almost NO shaft play and when i free spin it i can hear it spinning and it is some what loud.... So my question is , is this normal or do i have a problem on my hands?

mine is loud but not really loud.....does it sound funny under boost?

 

This scares me. I was going to get this to replace my 58 trim and now I don't know.

It's usally very smooth , if it's making noise it's going going

My turbo went out alot sooner than that but I do run C16 all day 40+ lasted about 2-3 weeks.

 

still should not go that quickly im sorry my turbo from my old eclipse was on there 40,000 plus miles of race gas and 27lbs so...To be honest with you man I would contact ETS Tom or Mike and see what they say.-joeyd

 

I wouldn't go getting worried about the 61mm in general over this one incident. I recall my 61mm making some noise at idle but after turning the car off it just spun as any BB would. Whatever your case is Brandon, Precision will take care of it.

 

Mine accually does the same thing.. you can hear it from the exhaust in the rear and from the front of the car.. as soon as i turn the car off you can hear the turbo still spinning and kinda shoulds weird.. like a grinding noise... nuthing under boost tho it feels great....

 

exactly what i am experiancing. But when i took the intake off the turbo and free spun it, it felt fine with no play or anything. When i spun it though it did seem to make a good amount of noise and i dont recall the to be normal.

 

well when i check mine there wasnt any shaft play either... and when i spun it i didnt hear anything.. so im not sure if yours is worse than mine.. but i wouldnt worry about it bud.. give precision a call and see what they say

yeah i will have to call them monday, hopefully i am just going crazy lol but i doubt it! with the hood shut all you can basically hear is the intake sucking

Mine sounds like a fan after i shut the car off. It's been like that since day one.

 

yeah i definately hear that, but there is another "weird noise" almost like the bearing is going. If anyone wants to take a quick vid so i can compare it, that would be awesome.
