Aftermarket Cams with stock springs/retainers?
Searched around the fourms and found no general answer. I read the sticky on Cams and hard numbers and saw that the post recommended upgrading the springs/retainers. I kno that it would probably be a wise choice to upgrade these with the cams at the same time, but i wanted to know who runs aftermarket cams with stock springs/retainers. And if you upgraded, how many miles did you put on the cams before you decided to upgrade your springs retainers?
reason being is that i'm looking to get some HKS 272's soon and if it is 'necessary' to upgrade the springs/retainers at the same time.

Aftermarket cams have higher lift and longer duration, basicly they open valves further, for longer periods of time. And higher RPM's the valve might float due to the stock springs not being able to pull the valve shut fast enough and you have your vavle and piston trying to occupy the same space at the same time.

cool how the last two posters are from VC and LB, cause i'm from LB and lived in Oxnard for 3 years.
HKS cams are designed with the expectation that the user will retain the factory valvetrain. The HKS cams feature mild ramp rates and lift that is close to the factory cams. The HKS cams represent a compromise between power and convenience.
