Installed my SAFC today..........

Just got done installing my SAFC.
Took about hour&half. Looks good, I installed it here

(Pictue used from Buschur site)

Car is WAY stronger on upper RPM's starting around 4500 or so.

Cant wait till my exhaust gets here next week. I ordered 3'' Turbo back from Buschur. I have the Buschur intake on, and now ordering my Boost gage and controller soon.

Just wanted to say thanks to David Buschur for helping me out in with a "different" kind of situation. I will be ordering from him for all my Evo needs/ err... wants

Anyway the install went well, I had the SAFC on my Eclipse, but never used it properally. Well anyway.....................Im going to go drive somewhere!!!

Hmmm, it seems to be faster......lol.....It pulls harder on the upper RPM's....kinda hard to explain. There should be a notticable difference once the exhaust is installed. To me its worth the $3-400. Its deffinattly faster though. You can feel the G forces in the upper RPM, kinda like in 1 and 2nd, but not as strong as that......am I making any since here? lol

The SAFC is a really robust system of simple tuning. Even though it doesn't have complete control, what it does provide can give an exceptional amount of tunability. Id say that adn the SAFCII are both really good buys if you are looking to upgrade different parts of the car, i.e. exhuast, boost controller, and etc. If you can find yourself a WB sensor you are set.

Going back to a post of mines, I purchased a very nice Wide Band sensor for $368 from innovaticetechnologies. Very nice workmanship and userfriendly it seems to be.

With just an SAFC and a Buschur Racing muffler delete pipe, my car really woke up. With just those two mods, I only gave up 1/2 car to a full Vishnu stage II WRX (uppipe, full turbo-back exhaust, crank pulley, IC hoses, STi intercooler, STi 500cc injectors, Walbro pump, and vf30 turbocharger at 17psi) from a 30-125mph pull!

A week or so before that, he still had the stock turbo and I was completely stock and the results were the same. I'm more than impressed with these two low cost mods. The car used to feel out of breath after 5500rpm. Now it pulls like a banshee to redline and beyond!

Just out of curiosity, how much fuel did you pull?

I have my NE points in 500rpm increments (the minimum) and stacked them from 4500 up and ignored the bottom -leaving 4500 and below at 0% correction- because its over-rich up top where we're concentrating.

I'm starting to pull fuel at 5000rpm. High throttle only, I started really low, like -2%, then pulled more as I went up. -5% at 5500, -8% at 6000, -11% at 6500 and I'm at -13% at 7000 and 7500rpm.

These settings are somewhat conservative as I'm running 93 octane and the stock airbox and paper filter, but until I get on a dyno with a wideband O2, I'm staying left of the middle air:fuel-wise.

Did u buy your kit from Buschur ,and did it have all the setting for the fuel map or do you have to do it yourself.I am strongly thinking about buying it, how easy was the install and do u need any other mods to realy feel the pull?
thxs in advance

I had theSAFC in my Eclipse before this. When I bought the Buschur Exhaust and the air intake they sent the recomended setting along.

The install took me about 30 mins, however I had done this before, overall the install is not to difficult.

All you need is a sauder gun (spelling), Screwdriver, wire cutters/stripers, and electrical tape. The instructions are sent with the SAFC if you buy it from Buschur.

When I bought mine, a couple years ago, it came with a thick book, that I used and did the install myself then too. It was as easy as a stereo install.

Im sure it will make a difference with out any other mods, I put mine on about a week before my exhaust got here, so there was considerable gain on the upper end of the RPM range, then once the exhaust was installed...WOW huge power gain.

Anyway.....go on and order it, not to expensive and well worth the gain in HP. Order it from Buschur!!! :-)

What is the soldering gun for? Is there a harness you can use to hook it up, so I can take it off anytime I wanted? Do you have to wire anything to the engine bay?

Also, do you have an EGT gauge to monitor your temps?

Buschur is now selling the Fields harness for their S-AFC II's.

The soldering is for the splicing of wires and taping of wires.

I have the SAFC so there is no harness for this as im aware of. Wish there would of been one.

No, no wires go to the engine bay, just to the ECU wich is located behind the glove box. Think there's only like 5 or 6 wires total.

No I dont have the EGT gauge yet......Im waiting for a nice tripple pod gauge holder first.

The setting Buschur sends out with the safc or safc2 are in the "safe" range. Further modification of #'s is possible with the EGT, and by monitoring your Volt at WOT. There are more expensive way's too.....E-manage....etc...
