Why is SBR stroker kit so cheap?

The 2.3 stroker kit on the slowboy racing website seems to be about a thousand dollars less than his competitors.

Has anyone used this with success?

They use a remanufactured crank. A new one is $500 more, so that would cut into the $1000 difference right off the bat.

IIRC, they also have a machine shop on the premises, so you're not paying someone else to do the work for you.

That kit is with a re-man crank, new would add $400. We do sell a ton of these kits so we are able to sell them pretty cheap and not be stingy with the quality of the parts in the kit. Web prices are usually a little higher than phone orders so I will PM you with a good price. Thanks for you interest.

Does this mean the rod journals are welded and re-ground?

We typically throw away ones that need welded - however some are "cut, or ground" as far as the re-man'd crank goes yes... but we are not into welding crankshafts, we would throw those away.

You are always welcome to buy a new one... !!! (we have very limited supply of used cranks that only need polished).

Cut cranks do not work out very well in these engines. If your spending the money for the performance parts I'd go ahead with the extra 400 for a new one.

IMO it depends on the type of power you are thinking about making, then look into the brands of parts and the power that they support.
