Turned off without cool down...

I put my car on the dyno today, and a guy forgot to let the turbo cooldown after a dyno run (less than a minute of engine and turbo loading). Do I have to worry about anything from now? My car was completely cooled before the dyno session, so the engine wasn't hot when the car got on the dyno.

p.s. My EVO with RMR downpipe, catback, UR 3" high-flow cat, and a K&N panel filter put 28 more whp than a stock EVO, and about 8 more than a stock STi (and this was on a DynoLogic unit that reads about 25% lower than a DynoJet).

As long as it doesn't happen frequently you have nothing to worry about.

Its really not a big deal guys - a single dyno run is not going to cause anythign out of the ordinary.

The whole cooldown thing is really moe important after road racing or other times when you are on boost for extended periods of time, not just a single gear long pull. In lieu of a tubro timer, if you want, just make the last 1-2 minutes of your drive after the 'hard run" a no boost affair - it will circulate the oil just fine

Of course, if you all want a TT group buy, come to some sort of concensus as to which exact one you are after, and we'll do it (we sell HKS, Blitz, Apex'i and GReddy)

I went to a dyno day at ESX (Subaru Tuner) in SFV. They use an Australian DynoLogic which reads really low (25% lower than a Dynojet). A stock EVO put down like 170-175 awhp, and stock STi was around 190-195. Mine put down 203 with RMR catback, downpipe, UR 3" cat, and K&N filter.

Keep in mind that our turbos are water cooled and the oild goes thru a cooler as well. The combination of the two make us not as prone to turbo cooling issues.

You are OK.

I drove a twin turbo RX-7 as a daily driver for over 8 years before getting my Evo, and never once did I observe a turbo cooldown procedure. The only problems I had with the turbo in 8 years were boost leaks due to hose clamps coming loose. Too much boost, blowing the air hoses right off... J/K

With the Evo, I do what Z1 Performance suggested -- I make sure that the last minute or so of driving before shutting the car off is under about 3000 RPM.

Anyone else interested in the turbo timer? I could really use one.

Someone else mentioned some time ago that because our oil is synthetic, there is no chance of it coking like conventional oil would standing still under high heat.
