Unhappy transmission drop??!?!?!?!

yea so i took my tranny (evo 8) to these guys at the shop to replace the clutch and the synchros. apparently they needed a 3rd gear and they charged like 1500 for a new one. thats retarded. so i looked on craigslist, bought a new tranny for evo 9 and they put a new clutch in and threw it in the car. now it wont go into gear. and seeing as i dont have money to pay them to take the tranny out i will bring the car home and take the tranny out myself. does ANYONE have any schematics of the tranny or tips on how to take it out?! ive never done this before, but i cant afford to have someone else do it :/ HELP!!!

Check your shifter cables before dropping the transmission. IF they aren't all on correctly then its not going to go into gear..

You accepted the car back without it going into gear?

evomoto.com has a install guide on clutch and flywheel that would help out

Yeah i am pretty sure if i paid someone to install a transmission and it didnt go into gear i would either ask for my money back or tell him to get back to work.

Shop is probably saying it is the tranny and its not their fault that he bought a messed up tranny. I think what is more rediculous is that they charged him 1500 to fix 3rd gear. Sucks all the way around

Definately try another shop and maybe use a credit card if you cannot pay for it.

you need to take off the cables form back of tranny, and see if it will go into gear by hand.....its possible you just have a bad tranny.....it should go into gear smoothely by hand...would nave nothing to do with the install.

+1 That would be the first thing to check. If you have to drop the trans, follow the evomoto guide. It is rather easy to do, but time consuming. I purchased a "rebuilt transmission by Shep" on ebay only to find that it HAD to be rebuilt by Shep. Trans was 900 + 1500 for the rebuild (second gear was toast). I could have bought a new transmission straight from Shep. I learned to stop cutting corners.

Why wasn't the trans checked before it was installed?
