20g or GT28
How does a question like this get posted in the advanced section?
There is no 20g turbo for the EVO8-9, we called some of the early units 20g's and 20glt's, we no longer refer to any of them as such and there is just the Green and Red now.
Before you upgrade the turbo make sure you have all the supporting mods done to the car first, like our Stages 1-4. I wouldn't even consider a turbo before having those parts done.
At that point figure out you power goal and decide between the green/red or maybe even something larger.

20g will give you the best response, drivability, reliability, and can probably be upgraded further, assuming this is a IX turbo housing.
some other points worth noting is that the 20g will work with the stock cast manifold. So you wont have to worry about your manifold cracking on the 20g.
Overall there is a lot less hassle with going with the Green, Red, or White turbos from Forced Performance, while still being quite capable little snails. Considering the Red is the least friendly daily driver turbo, a GT30 is without a doubt useless on the street, with a mainly street built motor (that is, a motor with a stock bottom end).
I don't think you can get a better turbo without sacrificing spool up time, boost range, or efficency. I mean what is not to like with a 20g? It has near stock spool, with pretty good top end power. A GT28 is probably going to be more useless the a GT30, simply because it may spool up faster than the GT30, but your top end will more than likely suffer as a result. The 20G, or turbos from FP, really do give you the best of both worlds.
