Hks Bov??
Hey everyone,
I've heard and seen a lot of videos of the HKS SSQV BOV. I think it sounds pretty sick. But I have also heard many things about venting to atmospheric with a bov like that is bad for the Evo?? What if proper tuning and track of the A/F ratio is done? what it still be bad? And I have heard that a Evo 9 BOV is better in terms of driveability and performance? What about sound? I really like and support HKS. Any input would be great. Thanks a lot.

you have to have a recirculating bov for driveability reasons like rough idle and running way too rich. to get away from this, I run a Go Fast Bits BOV...it is the only bov that is 100% adjustable from recirculating to atmosphere and it will fit on the stock bov flange with the stock or aftermarket piping.
search is your friend n00b :P
vta will cause you to run rich if you are running the maf. making performance and drivability worse (though some ppl say they dont have issues)... otherwise, if its speed density, then i believe, you can have it with not much issues...
do your research of MAF setups and then you'll understand why... buying it just for looks or sound is not a good enough reason to go with it... as soon as you start having problems with it.. youll want to sell it anyways and switch back to stock... too many ppl have gone asked and gone through the trouble of trying it out...

thanks bm. good info i'll check into that more. and hey i've read around and I'm find that many people are going with the stock Evo IX bov? People are saying that it works really well and can hold up to 28-30 psi of boost with no boost leak or anything. A good simple/ relatively cheap, and reliable solution?? Thanks for the input guys.
stock ix metal bov should be good to 23 psi i believe... check out synchronic synapse bov... as i have heard good news on that one or the APS twin vent that can vent 50% to air and 50% to recirc with little issues (though might run a little rich)... You should check with the popular vendors in the "marketplace" section or the vendor forums...

OK the truth about HKS BOV's in our cars. To my knowledge it works open VTA in 05-06' only! The car will idle fine and the car will not stall. It will dump a hint of more fuel when shifting gears nothing that will cause the car to stall but if your concern is MPG's then you might want to go with something just as good in design such as APS Twin Vent. The concept of the HKS is great holds i think 30+ which is great considering we are have turbos like the HTA 35R, FP RED, GREEN, and White. But the APS Twin Vent works just as well without the sound so you can't scare old people on the sidewalk waiting for the bus...lol
