First impressions:Twin scrolling the T4Z HTA88
Man this thing is fun to drive. The car doesn't sound like an EVO anymore. I've made some changes to the motor and am now breaking it in.
All the talk about twin scroll being responsive is very very true. For what I was told is going to be a laggy turbo, in a twin scroll configuration, its right there. Just accelerating slowly (regular street driving) seeing almost 5 in the vacuum on the boost gauge the turbo is whistling at a whisper. My old HTA35R didn't do that.
With buschur's BF 272 cams, V2 intake, 1200cc, twin pump setup, and a ready to rev high 2.2 ltr, the car has great street manners. Every bit as good as 2.3 with HTA35R I once had in the car. In fact I'm still on that old tune for 1000cc injtrs. The turbo has a T4 1.00 exhaust housing.
I can't wait to finish the break in no boost mileage, and get this sucker tuned. It's going to be awesome once it's sorted out.
I have thought about the effects of twin scroll verses single. It makes sense to me seeing as the small(stock) turbos are twin, and the big ones are as well. Why not twin scroll the turbos in the middle. I know single scroll works too seeing as I had put maybe the first HTA on AMS' kit back when HTA35s hit the public for sale, before AMS had it up for sale on their website. But I couldn't get around the idea and benefits of a properly setup twin scroll config. So I set out to do that. I hope I hit the nail on the head with this. I could have kept the car the way it was, but sometimes you have to grab your ***** and go for it.
Now the car doesn't drive like the turbo car I was used to when I had the HTA35 on it. Before it drove like a turbo car. Now I dare say it drives like an NA car, but I have no other way to describe it to you guys. Or maybe the car drives alot closer to an NA car and further away from a turbo car than before. I mean the turbo is right there. I'll get more info on this when I finish putt putting around town on breakin, then after the tune when I can really throw some boost down the pipe. But for now on my car, twinscroll wins regular street driving with a smigin smaller motor and bigger turbo.

Wait... you had a flawless 2.3 + HTA35R setup and just tossed it for a 2.2 TS HTA88? That is a lot of cost and effort just to change the spec. What made you spend all that extra money? I mean that is a ****load of extra money to spend.
^^^
Does it really matter? People change setups ALL the time. Test new things, personal preference.
Congrats on the new setup! I too cant wait to break in my new motor from TTR! I want to see what I can get out of this stock turbo with 33psi, meth, and all my bolt-ons with ported intake mani and TB!!!!
Cant wait to see your final results!!! Get some pics up!

Well I could have kept the setup(2.3 HTA35R), but I raced a 2.0 car. Now my car was faster and pulled it, but man you just can't beat staying in gear. I mean this guy just shifted, made a sandwich, poured a coke, shifted scratched his ***, text messeged, shifted thought about his 401K, watched a you tube video. All that while I was banging gears to from 7500 on the 2.3 ltr.
Plus I was able to sell off alot of stuff to mediate the cost of it. A very good friend of mine gave me a perfectly good 4G64 block, and I thought 94mm crank. It was over. Sold my turbo kit, cams, intrs, down pipe, then got the V2 intake to pass emissions. The only thing I took a hit on is the intake mani, and the 2.2 assembly, which another good friend of mine got the 2.2 kit peiced together at cost. Like 1200 bucks. I said what the hell.

Outside, the car is lowered alittle with tinted windows. So it's stock appearing.

I peiced one together. I'm running BC rods, eagle 94mm crank, Wiesco pistons.
I just heard something I'm just not used to hearing just driving on the street going to lunch. I was just getting to the point where I need to shift from 2nd to 3rd just regular street driving. The turbo made a whooping 2 psi, but it's still whistling a little. When I shifted, I noticed that the whistling never stopped. Even in between shifts. Normally the blow off valve would hit, whistle dies down, and it starts up again. You know the turbo sounds you love. Well this time out just regular driving, no power shifting, the whistle never stopped. I'm just grinning from ear to ear. That never happened on the 2.3 HTA35R setup.

edit: wait until you get it working REALLY well, then see how big your grin is.

Great description LT1runner. It's is right in line with everyone else's reviews of TS. Your setup sounds amazing. I look forward to seeing more results and info, maybe even video of this if possible. Please keep us updated.
