I have received the book in question and read it cover to cover.
This book is not a 'how to' guide for step-by-step engine building. Rather, it contains a wealth of general info on the 4G63 for both DSMs and EVOs. It discusses the evolution of the engine itself over the years, discusses strengths and weaknesses, and outlines general performance strategies as well as some popular internal and external hardware. It is well illustrated.
If you've invested substantial time combing this forum or have extensive experience with building and modding the 4G63, this book will summarize much of what you already know without being overly technical. If you're a relative newcomer to the EVO or 4G63a in general, this book will bring you up to speed quickly as far as where to get started and what needs to be addressed.
All things considered, it's a nice guidebook at a nice price.

Personally I find that the factory tech manual has all the info I need when building a motor, as long as there's torque and clearance specs I'm good. If you've never done any type of engine building before, then I would talk long and hard to a qualified machinist to find out what the "normal" steps to do are.
