i have a stock evo no mbc or anything is spiking over 1.5 bars and check engine light will come on and at other times it wont build more than 10 pounds anyone ever have this happen the code says wastegate fault could it possibly be the solenoid

 

sounds like is sticking, either open or closed at any given time.stuck closed could make it spike and stuck open could make it not hold boost.the only solenoid i can think of is the boost solenoid in that whole set up. the wastegate activator is vacuum based...hmmm. check if there is any play in the activator arm. pull it back and forth and make sure its opening and closing the flapper. good luck man. maybe check the vacuum lines in and around the activator you could have a rip or tear or hole in it. would give you a overboost scenario but not so much a low boost scenario.

 

yea i will try the wastegate if i down shift hard to accelerate it feels like i hit a wall then it slowly boosts to 10 psi and it takes 4 sec for it to go from 5,000rpms to 6,500rpms and only does this once it warms up when cold it runs great
