+1 on testing with the hood closed! And +1 on starting with a stock filter and box (complete), then other drop-ins and then the cone filters.

Good idea.

I think a lot of people are running with just the drop in cartridge so it'll be interesting which cartridge makes the most HP.

Then from there you can change to induction box and then to intake systems.

Well it's just a suggestion, but kudos to you for attempting this intake shoot out.

I agree with this suggestion.

The injen intake/ic piping kit seems relatively popular, so maybe you could test the filter that comes with that.

BTW, shouldn't you log airflow also?

Definatly an interesting idea and I will be curious to see the results. I would test as many filters as possiable. Having the more side by side comparisions you have the better, IMO. AS for using some knock ebay special filters (or autozone) what do you have to lose, throw it on the list.

Then compare this with some filteration results and you should have a pretty good guide for what filter flat out performs the best.

Keeping the same intake pipe will eliminate another variable. I'm testing filters here, not complete intakes. Look around though, there are plenty of people running just a cone filter with stock intake pipe.

I'm going to try to find a local Evo with a stock airbox still intact and use that as my test mule. Seems like everyone I know is already modded

I remember reading in a ricer magazine, a year or so ago, about them doing a filtration vs flow (or maybe just filtration) test with a bunch of filters. I can't remember if it was evo specific filters or not. Anyways, the Apexi won.
