Stock BOV Sound Question!!

Alright guys I just recently installed upper and lower intercooler piping and a new intake on my evo 8. After the install, the stock BOV completely changed sounds and now sounds like a sequential bov. I am wondering if something is wrong...because it just seems odd for it to change to this just due to an intake. Is something wrong such as compressor surge or something else?

nothing is wrong, the stock intake tends to muffle the sound so when changed itll sound different.

sounds boost leakish seeing u just did those changes

i had a leak at the boost gauge Tee and I was wondering what happened to my recirc valve

i did build boost but given traffic situations could not see if it was holding

however vacuum reading of 15in/mg was way off so i knew something else was up

A boost leak is possible....but im not sure. Also the bov is recirculated not open vented. Thanks...im gonna get it retuned pretty soon.

I tend to agree with Skipmaster J. I once installed my JDM DV backwards and was rewarded with compressor bark.

I just installed the new perrin intake tonight and was presented with the same sound. My first thought was boost leak because the sound was similar to the large hiss i heard when i blew an ic pipe, but everything checked out.
I'm thinking wevo1985 is right and the removal of the stock air box is like removing a muffler.

Swapping out the stock intake box makes a huge difference in sound. You're likely just hearing the normal sounds no longer muffled. Until I installed my intake I had no idea the kinds of noises the bov makes.

How is the car driving?

Felt great. The test drive was short due to a unexpected sound making me check for a non existent boost leak, but over all good. It's boosting more than before the install, just like in the perrin tests, and the idle is perfect.

Yeah the thing is I had a cone filter on it before the intake pipe. So you def. could here it spooling and blowing off. I just put a intake pipe with the cone filter I had before + the UICP & LICP. But now it sounds sequential and echoes multiple times when blowing off. So not sure ill have to take the blow off valve off and check. Any other ideas would be appreciated.

It's probably nothing.

If you run the stock intake with no cover, and without the filter you'll hear the spool/BOV a lot more. So chances are it was just the fact that you got a new intake.
