Question Headgasket, 8/9...Does it matter?

So my question, is there a difference between the VIII and IX headgaskets? I've read through a bunch of posts about how the OEM one is the best one even for higher power applications. Okay fine I get that. I've read that some people replace the Headgasket when doing Headstuds and some don't. Okay fine I knew that already. But nowhere do I see whether they are the same or not. I've gone to several sites that list the Mitsubishi Headgasket. Some of the are listed as "Evo 8 or 9" and some are listed as just "OEM Headgasket". So which is it?

These things also seem to have a crazy range in price. Any ideas of where to go?

That's great because Lancershop sells the "VIII" cheaper than the "IX". Hahaha....this is good to know.

Wow I'll remember that. It's funny because there are certain things I ordered from the that have been the cheapest around and shipping has always been super fast so I can't completely knock them. Again they are only one of the many internet based sources I use. Gotta love the World Wide Web...haha!!

Evo 9 is 5 layer (1.2mm) HG instead of 8's that is 3 layer (0.8mm).
So we have CR difference!
9's HG has 2 holes (for water) less than 8's HG.
