running only chevron 91. The next upgrade was gonna be fuel system but a lil too late for that motor. Time go all out now that I have to take the engine out now.

AEM EMS, the first thing I can think of is the tune, 21 psi is not a lot for EVO IX fuel pump, it's got to be the tune? who tuned it?

A friend that has experience with EMS was did the tune, he did adjust a few things at the top end. Really should of takin it to a shop I know that now. Im just not sure who would be a great tuner with EMS in SoCal. Going to really need someone now cause it isnt going to be stock now.

What kind of EMS was it? I also think you need to explain how "autotune" was an acceptable way to have the car run. You need to answer those 2 basic questions (more for yourself) before you go and repeat this whole process again IMHO.

Not to mention, why buy an EMS when you can reflash the ECU?

For my tuning, I use Bryan Medway @ GST Motorsports (Razorlab on EvoM) up in the Bay Area. If I had an AEM EMS I would have Aby (my business partner) tune it.

No way pistons look like that without detonation. Cracked ringlands and chunks missing out of some piston tops that is pretty classic signs. Could have lost fuel pressure and done this. It kind of looks like it happened all at once, not like its been happening over a long time. Just a flash judgement with the pictures you showed.

It was a AEM EMS. The car wasnt drivin on a regular basis and the guy who tuned it had set up everything on it and honestly I think he left the autotune on and I had second thoughts on it but he had tuned AEM EMS before and is a good friend. Now I will not make that mistake again and I'm currently looking for someone who is good with AEM EMS in so cal to do the tune once the entire car is done now.

left it 11.1 so that we wouldnt lean out. so far looks like that didnt work out so well thou. My next step before this happened was gonna be a fuel system and cams then to the dyno with someone that can tune AEM EMS
