Evo 9 blown...any ideas why

I have a 06 Evo 9 MR and blew the motor. went at about 5k RPM's in 4th gear

current mods are AEM EMS, 21 psi, 11.1 AF ratio, AMS turboback, AMS Intercooler, HKS Intake, MAF delete

im probably pointing out the obvious here, but it looks like detention did a number to your ring lands...

Were you logging knock?

No knock....... # 4 spark plug electrode was also gone.

Car so stock like that one must likley the tune just my .02

20k on the motor about 3000 miles with the EMS. Denso Iridium plugs one step colder than stock.

AEM EMS + 91 octane fuel

There is not much of a window of saftey when using that **** water they call fuel out there

Maybe a mechanical issue arose which caused the car to run lean or maybe just the tuning parameters did not leave enough meat on the bones to adapt to a bad tank of gas

In either event it looks like detonation damage to me

Looks like it was WAY lean. I'd say the tune wasn't right or fuel pump crapped out.

So who tuned it? Which kind of EMS? Leaving things up to "autotune" sounds a little risky to me...

That is no way to tune a car

Auto tune or closed loop is for crusing conditions and idle

NOT for WOT full load

Base maps are jut to get the car to start and then you have to tune from there - usually a lot
