XS Engineering not doing high hp cars? lol.

They have been tuning cars before I would bet anyone on this board. They have been building and tuning high hp cars when a lot of the members here were still in grade school. One of the founders is an engineer for Cosworth so I think he knows his stuff.

They are one of the best but I can tell you they probably wont tune your AEM. I would suggest Harman Motive. Dan is a good tuner and a good guy. Knows AEM's very well from what I hear.

As a matter of fact I think AEM uses his dyno to test products and such. I could be wrong but I think I am right.

Food for thought.

Good luck with your rebuild.

I would use Scott Grey out of Road Race. He tuned my car and has been tuning Aem EMS for a very long time. Did you have an IAT sensor installed in the car? If not the "tuner" may have tuned the car when it was hot. If the temps drop and there is not a IAT sensor installed it would change you AFR quite a bit (leaner). How was your knock sensor setup? You should hook your battery up and download your internal logs and take a look at them.

Didn't you have a wideband? like the AEM gauge? or were you just going off what the laptop says every now and then. the bad thing about the auto tune deal is it'll get a little drip of oil or some carbon build up and the tune will ASSPLODE!

I started tuning turbo cars in 2001 when the WRX came to the US. At that point the guys at XS had already been there done that many times over in other cars.

If you want the best facility and best tuners in so cal XS is my suggestion. 1200 whp and up is nothing new for them.

If I could afford to have someone wrench and tune my own cars, Buschur is choice #1 and XS is choice #2.

Yes the IAT sensor was used. I do not know how the knock was set up. I will be looking at th logs this weekend. The "tuner" did all the set up as far as the MAF delete and adding in the IAT and inputs into the EMS. Been hard just moved into a new house so the car has been on the back burner untill last weekend when I finally had a garage to tear the car apart in. Engine blew well over a month ago.

Ya tell me about it. Im not happy about that. I had my doubts on a few things. I should of done my research before i let him touch it and done it right. Ive always tuned all my other cars via AFC and never steeped into any stand alone systems so I let him do it cause I've seen a couple of the cars he did before without problems but none of the others were EVO's.

Yea Ive always tuned my own to but never stand alone. I got my WRX to run 12.0 at 112 with stock turbo on the bottle, and that was back in 03.

Also would anyone know how much you can over bore the 4G63 block? Im looking into a new block but would like to use my old one if I can. There is a gouge in the side of the no 4 CYL if you look at the pics. I have yet to measure it out yet thou. It looks like maybe about a 1mm gouge or so.
