depending on what tubular manifold and who ported the stocker is what it boils down to. But imo a well made tubular manifold will spool quicker and make more power than a ported stocker for most stock or stock appearing turbos.

I'd love to see some data to back that up. Everything I have heard is a well done port job will always beat a tubular. I'm open to dyno graphs.

has anyone tryed ceramic coating an ebay 1? everyone says they crack...ceramic coat them....and i mean on the inside...it provides a smooth surface for gases and keeps the exhaust gas hotter so it flows faster...if you do the outside as well engine bay temps would be down...i cant see it as being too expensive a set of headers on my friends 61 impala was only 200 bucks and if anyone has seen them there 4 times the size of an evo manifold

My Megan cracked after less than 1000 miles on the car, was running less than 25psi. It's pieces blown down to the turbo and destroyed the turbine wheel.

You better stay away from eBay cheap stuffs.

If its for stock turbo u can try it cause its so cheap but for a big turbo don't be a cheap ***... I also heard u gain almost nothing from it and its 2x better to just port stock manifold would really just suggest that

Has anyone tried to brace one like the DNP unit to see if it works better.

What route are you taking with upgrades? Are you planning on going with something like a GT30/GT35 turbo?

why even bother?

we cover this topic once a month it seems
I love Full Race stuff but have you seen the JMF manifold. I would be shocked that the FR manifold made more then the ported stock and this one didn't.

I have a XS power manifold for almost two year, cracked once a year ago, because weaks welds, so I take it off and in the muffler shop, weld it again with TIG, and no more problems, is a good stuff, ($160+$20 welds)

cheap header

i have a cheap header on my car.it was on it when i bought it.i think it is a megan but that header on ebay looks just like the 70.00 no name one.i run 25 psi on mine and really beat on it with no problems whatsoever.i live in north carolina and i have a friend that owns a powder coating and dry film business,i can get a header ceramic coated and bead burnished for 100.00 it looks almost like chrome when finished and has a surface that is scratch proof.it is wise to coat any manifold for obvious reasons.unfortunately most people overlook the benefits.anyway this is about headers not coating so i will end with this,do some research ,if you are wanting to go with a precision, garrett you know a non stock frame turbo look at the full race, ams, ets and see the build quality check the gauge of metal that is used now get on ebay and find whatever is very close.most of this stuff will work fine and you hear about the ones that do break (the one guy mentioned that his broke from abuse well wheel hop) i think most people who are running cheap parts that work well dont mention it so you never hear about the good.also if you are just looking for a stock replacement, sure a seriously ported stocker might outflow a cheap ebay man.but alot of people dont have the access to the necessary tools or possibly the know how.plus its cheaper than paying for alot of man hours on the stocker. good luck

this is what this thread was about for who ever was running a "LOW BUDGET" tubular or other manifold to post PICS and feedback about it.

most of us know that a ams, peak, ect mani are good quality mani's but for the ppl that want to go the "low budget" way at leat they can read up and see the product in action...........so post up pics of your "non expensive" tubular or other manifold guys.

So atleast the next new evo owner that uses the SEARCH BUTTON can punch in tubular manifolds and get a good thread w/ great pics and feedback

C'mon dont be shy we all use ebay post'em up!!!

flame suit on!

Okay since you requested for pics and want to know who uses these manifolds, i have used an xspower manifold for over a year and had no cracking issues. It did have fitment issues though, the holes on the flanges were too small so i had to drill them out.

I decided to replace it with a GT spec manifold and O2 housing. The pairing of the runners match the way the stock manifold runs. Check their site it'll have better pics.
