sucks man but this is exactly why I dont even consider bringing it to the dealer. I know they will **** me off someway somehow and I won't get my car back for a while which is something I can't afford. I hate to be negative but I know my tranny is bound to develop more problems in the future so I will drive it until it can't be driven anymore then time for rebuild.

Be a good idea the check the gear selection cables where the run through the guide bracket on top of the gearbox.

I first noticed a little trouble with forward gear changes on my 5speed. Turned out the gear selector cable responsible for selecting 1,3,5 (on the 5speed) had split from the supporting bracket that helps guide it. On the 5 speed it's the bottom of the two cables as you look down through the engine bay.

they fired they guy that did the work and gave me a new transfer case, so now I only have the Master Tech work on my car and I haven't had another problem yet. Plus I'm not going to pay the **** ton of money that it would cost when the car is still under warranty.

Will the dealer give me **** for putting mods on the car? Ive had the tranny worked on before and the dealer didnt say ****. That was back in Chicago though and they kept my car for a whole 2 weeks to fix 6th gear because I took it during the holidays, stupid mistake! How long will it take to fix this problem, does anyone know? How much am I looking to spend if I take it and pay for it. My car is still under warranty, I want to get this fixed before it gets worse.

It all depends on the dealership. Some will and some won't

samething happened with me on my 8. Try adjusting your clutch and put some new tranny fluid in.

2 simple things to try before you know your getting screwed when you see the bill for the tranny rebuild.

Yeah synchros...start saving up for a 5 speed swap. The 6 speed tranny is very, very fragile. It can be fixed and strengthened but its not cheap. The synchro is pretty hard to get to, you will have to remove the axles and transfer case, and then remove the entire transmission from the car. The transmission needs to be fully disassembled to fix the sychronizer. Its much easier just to buy a used/new 5 speed transmission and swap that in instead. The 5 speed will give you way less problems. If you insist you want to keep the 6 speed transmission, please contact shep at sheptrans.com
