Testpipe -> $70 10-15whp

MBC -> $80 12-16whp

Downpipe -> $160 12-15whp

Intake -> $65 8-12whp

Catback -> $350 5-7whp

Tune -> $150 30-40whp

Thats the best path IMO... Bang for the buck! I would skip on a catback completely until running big boost if it were my car.

Cheers!

I agree do not buy the junk injen pipe kit... Do the exhaust intake walbro and tune first. Then save up for proper IC pipes like buschur upper with mini battery and AMS lower pipe or the ebay rip off of AMS lower pipe which is pretty much the same thing.
Then a larger intercooler and larger injectors + cams with a retune.

How about the driver mod? Start there first. It's free. That is the best bang for the buck. Once accustomed to stock power, then have him proceed to let the mod-bug take over, slowly.

^^obviously driving and seat time first. after that i started going in stages because the income was limited. started with TBE (cat-less) then got a filter, MBC, walbro, tune and have a completely different car. not crazy power but still fun to drive. I am comfortable with the power now and want more, but im working on getting more seat time at the track and work on driving technique first, more bolt ins later. Start with exhaust...tell your friend thanks for the service, and gl/enjoy the new car!

Not the same thing - support American companies that actually put a damn into the product they design, make, and care about.

OK, well i see some injen hatres here..How many have actually owned it..Probably none..I have the injen pipe and intake kit,walbro,tbe,mbc and i tune..i just made 355hp and 344 tq..So yeah,i think the pipe kit is a bad idea.. Thats up 20hp and 19tq,from before i put the injen stuff on..So you can go with an overpriced kit,that you have to buy a smaller battery for so it will fit,or save some cash..And put one on that you dont..Either way,congrats on the evo 9..Great car,easy the gain power,and fun as hell..Take it easy,hope this helps..Justin

Maintinence would be a close second. Throw in a factory service manual, and your off to a great start.

Seems like everyone loves shifter bushings and that's a dirt cheap mod as well as an open air filter.

My favorite mod on any car, but especially Turbo cars, is the Turbo back or at least a Cat back exhaust. Not only will the exhaust note be very gratifying, but the decreased back pressure will add some noticable HP. JMHO
