1st Mod...What would you do?

I'm posting this for my friend who is new to EvoM(doesn't have access to posting yet)

So he just got his dream car...a stock Evo 9. He's in the Marines, doesn't have a lot of money and wants to Mod the 9.

I recommended opening the exhaust...cat back or preferably turbo back.

He's looking into the injen Intercooler Piping kit...

What would you do for your 1st mod knowing you don't have super deep pockets and you want to build on your dream turned reality?

the first thing i did when i got my evo when it was bone stock were the front motor mount inserts. Made a world of difference. IX's with an open element filter, TBE, MBC, Walbro and reflash can be plenty fun and not drain the pockets

TBE is a great place to start. I would avoid the injen pipe/intake set like a pretty girl who you know has herpes. It seems okay at the moment, but you really regret it later. Maybe intake, licp and tune.

Start with the basics. Buschur and AMS have staged packages if you would like to look into those.

He should get a 3" downpipe and a 3" test pipe while still using the stock catback. It will be nice and quiet and with a mbc and tune he will still make 330+ whp.

i agree on doing exhaust first, he should wait until he can save up for a decent IC pipe kit (buschur ftw), you dont want to get stuck with the injen kit, trust me on this one....plus exhaust can yeild a much greater power gain with a tune and mbc
