This build looks like fun and who cares how dirty the engine bay is. If your car goes fast, it goes fast. That hypermilling s**t is crazy. 25 to 1 AFR? what kind of egt's are you seeing?

It's a D16. Plenty of people have pushed stock bottom ends alot harder than that reliably.

We're going to try the same setup on a Miata at work. With a MegaSquirt we can run the stock Evo low Imp injectors so we are basically going to take the Evo turbo, mill a flange for it and an exhaust flange for the Miata and fab up a manifold. Rods again are the problem with the Miata. We already have the IC and pipes for the Miata since that's what we do so other than the mani and DP should be a bolt it.

Will that lean even support combustion, even on a quick burn honda engine? Typical engines will miss at around 16 afr

yea i was thinking the same thing,if my honda goes around 16.5-17.0 a/f is starts to buck a little, makes for crappy drivability.i usually run it around 14.5-15.0 a/f partial throttle and it gets about 25-28 mpg on 1200cc injectors.

This is very true, I have tuned just a hand full of these v-tec E Honda engines and they will run LEAN!!!!! the engine will start to miss at around 24-26 to 1!!!!!! of course this is under cruising conditions. better MPG than a hybrid!
subi's, Nissan, mitsu I have tuned will all start to buck and miss around 15.5-17 to 1 (again cruising conditions)

I have been trying to hypermilage a D15 3-stage VTEC motor, and my PLX wideband stops at 20:1. However, through interpolation in Hondata my highest AFRs are normally around 22-23:1. The car is still N/A though...
