Oil Filter
mitsu is downsizing their line of oil filters. They are trying to streamline them so there are only like 3 or 4 available. I work in a mits parts department. So yes you guys are correct...with all the jumbled numbers that mits is giving with the oil filters. Gets kinda confusing but will be helpful in the long run.

I just recently did my 1000 mile oil change. I'd figure it was smart to do so after the break in period. Getting rid of any bits of metal shavings from any internal engine components. It seems that some of evo owners are having a hard time finding oem filters or replacements. I have found a perfect OEM replacement from Bosch. The filter is not as fat as the Oem's however, it seems to be a better fit than the original filter. The filter Model # is #3310. I have had the filter on for 400 miles so far. Not a problem or leak. Any questions feel free to email me. Gerard

Does it have the internal valve to prevent all the oil returning to the sump?

Helpful with the exception of the downgrade in quality.
Jemm,
Bosch Premium filters do offer an internal valve to prevent the oil returning to the sump... I also just found out this evening that WRX owners also use the same filters. I went to Bosch's web site to check compatibility, however nothing comes up for the EVO's. It probably won't happen till next year.

Picked up two Bosch 3310s tonight. AWESOME FITMENT. Looks just like stock. Thank you very much!! I looked at the Mobil 1 M1-104 and decided I'd rather have the 3310.
I checked under Bosch's website.. didn't find oil filter made
for EVOs..

Ok...
Just went to pick up a filter and I got the different one.
The parts guy who I've known for years said it shouldn't be a problem. He mentioned the change probably has to do with helping to increase the oil pressure a bit?
Is this BS or what?
The new filter looks smaller than the old one. The box did come with a washer however. But I dont like the fact that its smaller=worse filtration.
The part number on this filter is: MZ690072
Anyone recommend I not use this filter when I change my oil tonight?
thanks..

I picked up a Wix recently, 51064 I think. I crossed it from the K&N part number people said they were using as the vehicle guide didn't show an Evo.
Also, I picked up one of the "new" filters from the dealer just for kicks. The Wix looks to be WAY better quality.
