Timing belt skipped tooth fix...

So, got a little careless during my head removal/cam install. I was checking to make sure everything was still timed and noticed that the crank pulley timing mark was off (just forward of the TDC mark) while the cam marks were still on. Before this check (including initially setting it before removing stuff), everything was on with the crank a tooth or so shy of the TDC mark.

What would be the correct way of fixing this? I've seen some very drawn out processes and while I'd prefer a quick fix, I'd rather not destroy stuff.

Any help is appreciated.

Take the timing belt off and line it back up.

What else would need to be lined back up in the process?

I'm really curious to know which steps to take and which to skip since this isn't a complete timing job but just fixing a few skipped teeth.

Tony (is a noob at timing belts)

All of the timing marks need to be lined back up.

Do it as if you were timing a full timing belt job minus BS belt. Its not worth a bent valve to save 30 minutes now.

IT is possible to just line the crank back up and then adjust the cams back it place. Then recheck all your marks before spining the engine over.

If it were my car I would spend the few extra mintues to take the lower timing cover off and know its right. But that just me. The only reason I say its recommended to take the cover off it to know the oil pump is still timed to the Balance shaft.

Thanks for the input.

How much of a pain in the *** is it to take off the lower timing cover?

I originally was gonna just line up the crank and gears, but i really don't want anything to go wrong once I crank the car up.
