Sorry you would have to contact Earl's Indy. A roll is 15"x30' lots of material there, that is why the have a roll for smaller orders.

Nice Indy! I'm glad someone reputable has posted this. I've been asked several times why I use the silver instead of the gold.

What is the lifespan of these reflective foils? I've noticed in their specs they mention a 1 year shelf life and can withstand at least 8 hours of continuous heat. Does this mean over time they break down and become ineffective?

McLaren F1s utilize gold film, or plating within their engine bays to keep radiate heat from leaving the engine bay. Really the use of expensive metals to combat heat is just to isolate the heat, not necessarily reduce heat.

So I don't know that it would be helpful EVO owners as the entire point of FMIC, and vented hoods is to remove the ACTUAL heat from the engine bay, and the operating mechanics of drive train. Gold film could be used on the intake, intercooler, and other parts that could suffer from heat soak, but inevitably, the heat that isn't absorbed by those parts is either absorbed by another part down the line, accumulated within the engine bay.

I am interested to see where this forum ends up....

In most cases a couple of years, this depends on how close the heat source is to the film. The reason you see the film inside the bodywork is to protect the paint from damage during long stops on pit road or practice sessions. This is one of the reasons you see crew members plug fans into the radiator ducts to circulate air during stops.
