new clutch...

My situation... I bought a 03 Evo in April with and Exedy twin disk clutch already in it. It started slipping last month. I don't know much about this clutch, how long it's been in the car, how hard the clutch was driven before I bought it, or who installed it.

My questions:

1. Should I get the rebuild kit or just buy a new clutch (same clutch that's in the car)?

2. Should I get the flywheel resurfaced or get an after market flywheel?

3. Does the Exedy come with a flywheel?

the rebuilds are inexpensive for the exedy twin like no more than $550....all other clutches well be a lil more expensive

But I don't know for sure if the rebuild kit will fix the problem.

What if I have a cracked pressure plate or something wrong with a spring. It will cost more to fix the problem by trial and error then it would be to play it safe and replace the clutch. Remember, I bought the car used and I don't know anything about the clutch.

The rebuild kit covers all of your concerns. When you pull the clutch you will know if you have a prob with the flywheel. Same thing with the pressure plate. It will all be in your hands to inspect fully.

Dont be scared.

Remove the clutch assembly first before ordering anything if its possible. I had 20k on mine and it started dragging on disengagement. I removed it to find a broken spring in my belhousing. I ended up buying new. Good luck...

1. take it apart so you know what you are dealing with.

Thank you all for your responses. I have a better idea of what to do now. Any personal experiences would be appreciated though.
