opinions on exedy twin disk

well this car already has an exedy twin disk in it, but the clutch plates are toast.. literaly metal on metal, no rivets, no anything lol. I found you can buy replacement disks for this clutch so id like to go that route considering the flywheel that it comes with.

who has one?? what are the pro's and cons? worth it for me to just replace the disks or should I get another stock flywheel and put a stocker type clutch back in it?

I've run my exedy twin for 2500 miles or so. It's a great street clutch and is great for the strip if you're still running sub 375whp.

Mine slipped pretty bad at the track with 480whp.

I rebuilt the Twin that I put in my car and I loved it. I would recommend rebuilding it. Going with a single plate clutch is a mistake in ANY evo IMO.

thank you.. this car will never see many mods and is daily driven.. The most itll ever get is a tune and the boost up a bit, its already got exhaust and an intake, dont think it will ever have much more than that.

I have run an exedy twin disc for a couple years now. Sure it makes a little noise when you push in the pedal but its nothing too bad.

I bought exedy's rebuild for it about 4 months ago. I am very pleased with it

an exedy twin is probably one of the most well respected all around functional clutches for sub 450 ft/lbs torque evos

I have an ACT HDSS kit with a fidanza flywheel at 348wtq I can't complain

22,000 miles of 440whp 430wtq on mine, lost count of how many passes at the drag strip, even a couple track days, it's still holding. The motor is coming out in a couple months to change a few things around, I'll start a thread about the clutch when I take it apart.

I liked my Exedy twin, it was a nice clutch, I quickly wore it out though.

I have a Carbonetic triple plate FS if anyone is interested.

you have over 600 ft/lbs of torque

that's not much of a shocker

Im putting an exedy twin HD in when I get my stage 2 TRE 5spd, Im makin 400whp/tq right now and the car is my daily driver that makes 2-3 trips to the strip per year. My dilemma is that I plan on being 500-550whp next summer and based on what this thread is saying, the clutch will be toast in no time.

Any suggestions for a clutch that'll hold up? Or should I just do the exedy twin HD now and worry about replacing the clutch to a stronger one when I actually make the jump to the 500whp range?

Svendiesel,
If you don't drag your car at the strip... I think you'll be ok. Any launches or WOT shifting/NLTS... and I know you'll have lots of clutch slip.

For a step up... I'm going with the Tilton Twin. Some people like the Exedy triple, but it has waaay too high of a Moment of Inertia for my liking.
