exedy twin disk studder

I recently purchased a used Exedy twin disk clutch that had about 1000 miles on it, surfaces were clean but I lightly scuffed with very light sand paper all the metal surfaces (not the clutch disks themselves). The clutch slips in third and forth gear under high load. Is this a problem with the clutch needing to be broken in again ?

well, the clutch has zero signs of wear or heat. Im not new to this game, i was just wondering if anyone experienced this before break in.

Measure the discs with a caliper or micrometer, That might show how much use is on the clutch discs.

i had a exedy twin with no problems in my six speed. then did a five speed conves. and put in a hks twin. i had clutch slip when i tried to launch where the car would run right through the clutch. even if i barely slipped it it would do it. then actman(president of act) told me to try taking out the restricter pill and it worked like a charm. I think the five speed and the six speed react diff to a aftermarket clutch. so give it a try if u havent already. good luck!

hey guys, its not a slip like most slips would be, ill be under full power in third under load higher in the rpm range and the car will buck real hard for a split second then grab again.

Have you tried removing the restrictor pill?

I'm kinda not sure if this could be your problem, but I'll try anyway. A new flywheel? could cause different load charcteristics on the drivetrain due to less rotating mass. This in turn could jump you into higher load cells, thus putting you into boost cut territory. So do a log or something and see if your rpm's are actually spik'n or your hitting boost cut.
