popping sound?

for some reason my evo8 sputters and poppes when i get on the gas over 1/4 throttle the car sputters and poppes.the car was fine three days ago and now its doin this,i changed the plugs and it still does it,it seems fine until it hits around 10psi.the only thing i can think of is that its really cold out and messing with the air maf,if you have any suggestions please let me know, thankyou.

Check plug gap, and check if there are any big leaks between the MAF and turbo. When a car misfires it usually won't pop or sputter... it'll kind of just hesitate or stutter. That doesn't sound like your probablem. I would say boost leak, but you say it's ok over 10psi?

mine was doing the same, except i was in 4th gear near wide open throttle. this didnt start happening til i got back to NY after driving from Cali. im pretty sure its cause its cold outside. i ended up changing the plugs as well and adding a MBC, and a short ram intake. we turned the boost down to about 19 psi from 23psi. its acting fine now. im gonna try turning the boost up probably tomorrow to see what happens. what gear are u in and what rpm is it at when it starts popping?

the car has intercooler upgrade, arc intercooler, mbc, perrin intake, turbo back hks exhaust, and thats it for the engine mods,i bought the car with these mods so i dont know if it was tuned yet,but the car was fine 3 days ago and then it started stuttering alittle at full throttle, and now it does it anything over 1/4 throttle and around 10psi,do you think the weather could have this affect?

you should also check for a exhaust leak somewhere. one or more gaskets in the exhaust system could be blown out. i had the same popping sound and thought it was backfiring but it was actually 2 blown exhaust gaskets causing that sound around the cat.
