Amsoil Help
Unless this is a super loose clearance engine, which is not likely, I would run the Dominator RD-30.... The only reason to run a 20W-50 Synthetic would be if this is a super loose engine.. in that case, I would go to the AMSOIL Dominator RD-50 which is a 15W-50 Racing oil.
Agreed
In a Stock Turbo charged engine, AMSOIL is good to the longest recommended drain interval recommended by the manufacturer.. 5000 for a stock EVO.
If you are running a highly modified engine, you SHOULD be using Oil Analysis to build a Baseline for oil changes.
Correct.... Too high a Viscosity oil may slowly starve critical engine parts of the necessry lubrication. Not saying you may or will have a catostrophic failure immediately.
Pretty good... Congrats.... The AMSOIL SSO is a Super tough oil. Although there is a little bit more to "A30 wgt is a 30 wgt" , for general purposes and ease, that is correct.
At 212 Degrees F. they are 30 wgt oils. The difference is measured at 32 Degrees F. where the engine requires lubrication as quick as possible.
Although I do believe that this is not an oil problem, It sounds like a possible oil ring problem which will not show up in a compression check, I would switch to the AMSOIL RD-30 and try it..
Every once in a while, you have an engine that just "doesn't like" a certain oil for some reason.
PM me for a price on whichever oil you choose... No one beats my prices..
Doc
i use the 10w-30XL amsoil and dont experience any loss..
i did notice this, however, in the listing you posted above....
"SERVICE LIFE
AMSOIL Synthetic 10W-30 Motor Oil is recommended for extended drain intervals in unmodified(1), mechanically sound(2) gasoline fueled vehicles as follows:"
this was only listed the the 100%synthetic listing not the XL listing...

There shouldn't be an issue running a 0-30w oil. The only difference between a 0-30w oil and a 10-30w oil is the cold start protection ratings. Otherwise they as specified should operate the same.
If you live in a climate where you see temperatures under -10F like alaska you probably should use 5-30w or 0-30w. Or if you're crazy like me and drive the car when it isn't warmed up fully getting to work maybe the 0-30w is just peace of mind.

Sebastian needs to do a leak down test it will help him troubleshoot, no oils will cure this issue no oils have mechanics in the bottles.
do a leak down, and another comp test.
LETS US KNOW IF YOU GUYS NEED PLUGS, OILS, FILTERS,,,, VERY CHEAP OIL AT DIST PRICING AND QUICK SHIPING VIA BROWN TRUCK
