evo9 turbo on evo8

what can I expect from installing evo9 turbo on evo8. How many psi can i run this turbo. Whats is CFM on evo 9 turbo. How many hp can I get with evo 9 turbo, cams, 3" exhaust, gredddy intercooler, intake. I'm new to evo and I dont want to go extreme.

Well it depends on what year Evo. I believe the 2005 Evo VIII has the same turbo. I think the IX turbo flows 47-49lbs. Not really sure. As for power you're probably looking at 350whp on a dynojet. This is assuming you're running a test pipe and some type of boost controller.

I just got tuned this past Saturday with all the mods in my signature. The EVO 9 Turbo on my EVO 8 made 332 whp at 23psi. This was with a Hi Flow cat, the tuner said that if I was running a test pipe I would have seen 10-15 more horsepower, which would have been right around 350.

not the same turbo but the same hotside. i think 10.5 on the 05's and 06's. ive always heard you get about 15 to 20 hp from this swap. imo i hold out for a fp green as the prices seem to be dropping because of the "mighty" fp red

I have 03 evo. What you guys use to control fuel, is apexi afc enough to tune the fuel, would i have to go for bigger injectors if i have bigger fuel pump 255. Going for bigger turbo i'm only concern of turbo lag, and of course the price, it's around 1600 if im not mistaking. Whats the turbo lag on fr green. Thank you guys

03 - 04 evo turbos are the same 16g6 with 9.8 turbine housing, the 05 evo turbo is a 16g6 with 10.5 turbine housing and the 06 evo 9 turbo is 16g6 with a bigger compressor housing and the 10.5 turbine housing....tuning wise i would use EcuFlash, buy a tactrix cable and evoscan and you can log your car and tune using EcuFlash, but i would have a reputable tuner tune your car...if your going to stick with a bolt on turbo....i would get a BBK Full turbo if you plan on running pump gas all the time or the FP Red if you plan on using race fuel or e85....

i would leave the boost level alone until you tune your car...stock on an evo 8 is 19psi...

i dont have any fancy stuff controlling my fuel. just a great AMS tune. i have a 255 on stock injectors. as far as the green its kinda the same as a 9 outside. the "guts" are differant. i dont think lag would be any differan if you go with the green. and you would have a very broad power band, from what ive heard, and dynos graphs ive seen. whatever you do make sure you get a good tuning shop to do your tune for you, if you dont know how to do it yourself. as far as price you gotta pay to play i guess, but there are greens on here for sale from time to time for a good price just keep your eyes open

dyno sheets? because, I'm pretty sure you don't have back to back with the VIII vs. the IX turbo, just guesses as you added more things between the dyno trips...

I picked up 22whp on a Mustang Dyno swapping from my 2005 VIII turbo (10.5 hotside) to a IX turbo.

Car made 355whp with IX turbo, 272/272 Zex cams, AEM Intake, AMS intercooler, MBC set at 24PSI, Pump gas, 3" DC sports downpipe (no cat) and Thermal 3" exhaust....With a reflash (dyno tune) by Keith at Pure tuning in Toledo

So just the cold side is what makes the 8's and the 9's turbos compressor housing diffrent.

What about the cold side's compressor wheel are they bigger or the same in both turbos?
