But now I am thinking of going the AMSoil filter over the Perrin, because of the oil situation:
1) EPA prevents us from having oiled filters
2) Having to clean/reoil the Perrin might become annoying

I like the look of the Perrin filter over the AMSoil just not sure on filtration+upkeep...

Thoughts about that?

Ralliart should be sweet, but I think too $$$
Here is the Samco I mentioned in case you decide not to wait on the Perrin: http://www.maperformance.com/samco-s...-evo-viii.html

Both the Amsoil and Perrin air filters will need cleaning (Amsoil will need more frequent cleanings), but cleaning the Amsoil will be a lot less messy since all you need is an air compressor. The Perrin will need the cleaning solution and oil which will get all over your hands because you need to massage it into the foam. With all this said, I still went with the Perrin filter

I have actually been wondering the same thing. PPI's intake looks similar to the Cusco which I've heard good things about.

I bought the AMSoil, its a good price, I know the filtering is top notch, and the construction and design looks very high quality, and its is cheaper than most of the filters out there. Im sure you read the filter shootout thread, and I was rather surprised it preformed so well because I know the filtering ability is so high. I didn't put it on and instantly feel more power or whatever, but its looks good, it performs well, its low cost, so I got it.... Just my opinion and thoughts about mine, to each their own.

And thanks for all the work you do for the community!

I used the Buschur hard pipe for a little while and made 334 whp with the stock turbo with no driveability issues whatsoever. I am selling it now if anyone wants it PM me. I'm going to a different setup. I liked the function, form, and the fact that it was shiney didn't hurt me feelings either! LOL

You haven't lived til you pulled your hair out screaming at an ETS intake set up and drivability, etc with it.

I would highly recommend the Perrin kit.

The ETS pipe is very short, I wonder if that's the reason for the issues.

I know it sounds weird, but I fab'd my own intake pipe. It's very similar to the Buschur pipe design and I tried to keep the same length or as close to it as the stock rubber piece. It seems to do pretty well so far, but I haven't had much of a chance to do any major logs to see how skewed the fuel trims are (if much at all). Perrin would be my top choice though otherwise.

What ETA did they give you? I just recently placed an order as well but haven't given me an ETA yet...

I have a Buschur pipe and it works great in the summer but when its colder than 32F outside the idle is not constant. Bounces around a lot. Im used to it. It has never stalled on me though.

Hey Dave,

Wait for the Perrin as you won't be disappointed mate. I've had mine for a while now & the outside still has no built up dust or grime, cleaning them is no hassle at all.

Get yourself the Unifilter cleaning kit, I've used that for years on their foam filter with my Prado. Their cleaner literally brings the foam back to the original colour when new, I did a desert run (Prado) from Perth to Townsville via 'The Great Central Rd' & that's a hell test for cleaning.

No driveability issues for me & I'm in need of a retune because of some other parts that have been added lately.

I'm keen to see how the BBK lite goes with the Perrin if that's you're choice mate. Good luck with all you're doing.

Regards Steve

I would get a hard pipe that fits well but will accomidate the stock box (with better filter). Thinking the configuration prior to the MAF is what alters airflow reading, and all the MAF tables were adjusted to the box filter configuration.
