Battery Problem, please help!

Question...

During winter time/cold weather, my car battery will always die out. Then I would need to jump start the battery to get it started again. What is the problem? Could it be the audio amplifier sucking the juice out of the battery or time to change the alternator?

Recently, my battery smells like rotten egg and there's juice bubbling through the vent on the battery.

BTW, I got the battery changed twice(2) within a year.

How much is it to get an alternator installed?

some helpful(or not so helpful) info:

current mileage: 50,000
model year: evo 8 2003

I would imagine that battery is shot. How big is your amplifier? Why did you get the other batteries replaced? What type of battery?

Check your alternator. I had a similar problem in my DSM and the alternator was putting out 18 volts instead of the normal 12-14 volts and my battery was bubbling and all the car needed to be jumped randomly.

I'm guessing your issue is just some sort of electrical drain that's causing the battery run down so I'd start with the aftermarket electronics.

A short in the alternator can also drain the battery. Start with the alternator, but you may need a new battery now also.

OP, don't drive your car until you check and replace the alternator and the battery. The battery is already toast, thats the rotten egg smell. Its over charging for some reason and is cookin' the battery acid and fluid. It sounds like the alternator might be the source, be safe, check it out.
