Every box, that I could find, including the Morosso one was too big so I decided to make my own,and powdercoated it for looks. it holds a full size yellow top and is vented

yes that is a NHRA rule, rear mounted batteries require a cu-toff switch at any E.T.

It's not important as long as you use a dry cell type battery (optima, ect.)...looks nicer, much cleaner install, as long as you don't have a thing for throwing large metal objects in your trunk you should be good!

Is it safe to have a big tank of meth and a battery in the trunk?

The best solution is to get the battery out of the engine compartment completely. Shifting the weight of the battery from front to rear is beneficial to the weight distribution of the car, and represents a net shift of 2X the weight of the battery. Not to mention, it creates the most additional space in the engine compartment, and you won't be saddled with a puny battery that is undersized for the application.

I like this a lot. I see you're using stock battery tray and tie down. What other parts did you use and how much did you spend? I'm very interested. Thank you.
