every 30k you should do tranny, diff, and ACD fluids changed, check your air filter, oil change, check all belts, check spark plugs, check antifreeze, brake fluids...

But the 60k service adds a few things, like spark plugs, ignition cables, timing belt, balance shaft belt and a few other things, according to some websites that offer these services particularly for the Evo.

Our 4G63s comes with a balance shaft belt. It is a small belt right behind your timing belt so you can't see it unless you tear the assembly apart. At 60k miles, the big things to change is your balance belt and timing belt. Fluids should be changed according to driving habits. I change my fluids every 4th oil change, sometimes 5th.

Another q

how much would a stealership charge for the 60k service?
I know it'll be a lot - unless AMS charges cheaper, I don't know who else to turn to? would it be cheaper to just buy the belts and such from mitsuparts.net and have the dealer do it? i know the stealership charges more for labor...so I'm pretty much asking which way should I get duped for my money?!

I think the approximate going rate for the whole 60k mile service was supposedly a bit over a G, though there are some vendors on various Evo forums who offer much better pricing well below that, like $800 or so. It's a lot of stuff.

yeah, i was looking over the 60K schedule, and by no means do I want to skimp out on anything esp. maintenance - the fluids I can manage, I just want to make sure the place I get it done is 1) reliable 2) not too much $ - and also, if there's some ways around spending some money, I'd definitely go for it...

Timing belt, balance shaft belt, water pump, all the tentioners and pulleys and all the drivetrain fluids. I think the manual calls for the serp belt too but mine was cool until 45k and I did it then. If you have never changed your brake fluid that might not be a bad idea also.

Listen to this man, buy the kit from him. Thats what I did. It comes with everything you need. You will save over getting the parts from your local dealer. Then you just have to decide where you want to take it. Any of the shops in our area can handle this, CBRD (who I used), JNZ, Ivey... up to you.

On a side note, check out the Northeast Regional forum, us Philly guys have meets pretty regularly.

yeah 60K is a salty service ;(

we buy our parts from our dealer for it. Some places on the web may sell the required parts cheaper.

would upgrading cams, valve train, headgasket and headstuds the correct way be the perfect time for the 60k service?
