Wrapping Full Race Headers?
Wrapping Full Race Headers?
Would u guys recomend wrapping my full race headers? they already have the ceramic coating, but it's flaking in a few areas. would painting them w a high temp paint hurt them?

I would definitely recommend wrapping the headers / exhaust manifold (very common in race applications)...Although I have not coated and wrapped (just wrapped) the Evos manifold, I have with Porsches. (I would not waste the time prepping and painting the areas where the coating has flaked off and just wrap.) Good luck...
You may want to take some logs before and after to see if you gain anything...

It is always a good idea to wrap tubular headers. There are many benefits to it. One of the biggest being the reduced heat in the engine bay. By reducing the heat in the engine bay you can lower the temp of the air that is coming into the intake. This can also help the car make more power, since the air well be cooler and more dense after it exits the intercooler. It also allows less heat affects on the fluids to the various other parts of the car. I have seen engine bay temps get so hot that the brake fluid is at boiling temps. The reduced heat can help preserve the fluids.
The only down side is that wrapping the manifold can hide cracks. Also, depending on your worries about weight, you can add about 3 to 5 pounds to the car.

yeha call full race first before u wrap it up cause i know some people dont like there stuff wrapped up. If i remember correctly Full Race will void ur warrarty on the manifold if its wrapped.
I highly doubt Jeff or any at Full Race would void if wrapped (but call and find out)...Hi temp paint does nothing to reduce heat transfer (or keep engine cooler)...Coating is very different than paint...Good luck..
