ceramic coating won't chip life many others, and swain coating will eventually flake off as well. Jet hot is like cermaic, it doesn't come of easily.

The VHT coating says it's good up to 2000°F, I'll probably stick with that, if it does chip I'll just recoat it with the Jet hot like red evo8 suggested.

I've had my swain-tech coated full-race header on the car for roughly ~30k miles and has yet to show any signs of flaking or cracking.

I've spoken to Geoff on this topic many times and he recommneds swain-tech over jet hot as well. CBRD uses it as their coating of choice as well.

The ones you've seen crack are probably headers made of a cheaper metal that distorts easily. I've seen it before on a "custom" header someone had on their car.

Jet and swain is your best bet.

I think Borla offers a million mile warranty on all of their products... may want to look into that before paying for jet coating

I want to do a swain coating on mine as well.

I had my old manifold jet coated, lasted fine for about 2 months of daily driving. After the first dyno session (9 pulls) it started to flake off.

I have heard nothing but good things about swain.

Okay last night I said screw it, I'm taking matters into my own hands. Since I'm not the original owner of these headers they're not covered under warranty, so I started sanding the HPC Coating off and here's the result. Still not sure if I'm going to paint them or continue buffing them. It will take a lot of work to get them to shine, I've only done 400 grit so far and I'm not even sure how I would polish these so they look good. probably need a rouge cloth or something. Anyhow know how to polish Stainless Steel?

keep sanding with something softer. It will eventually shine. You will want to coat it afterwards BEFORE it is installed and the car is started. Ceramic is the only way to go.

Get it Jet or Swain coated. Jet looks shiny silverish and swain makes it whitish.

Yeah I don't want to spend $$$ on getting it jet coated, still leaning towards just polishing these bad boys. Just not sure how I'm going to get them to shine without a buffing wheel.

If I end up painting them, I'm going to do it myself with VHT Flameproof BLACK paint. If it flakes I can always repaint it. But I'm planning on doing a really good prep job and will be baking the headers with the paint if I go that route.
