Painting Headers ?

Got a set of Full Race Prostock headers, as you can see the coating is flaking. I'm thinking of painting these headers with VHT 2000°F rated Flat Black paint.

Has anyone else tried doing this?

Gonna sand these headers lightly, clean them off then put on a thin coat of VHT paint. Hopefully they'll come out the way I want them too. If not they can't look much worse than they already do .

Not a high enough temp. Look up Jet and Swain coating.

Full Race says they can send them back in to HPC or whatever and have them coated again.

Why don't you just heat wrap them!

I think I will heat wrap them. Painting them voids the warranty, heat wrapping I don't believe does. Still waiting to hear back from Full Race as to whether or not that's true or not.

Heat wrapping is worse than painting. You will trap moisture right next to the metal, which will lead to corrosion.

I'm in the same boat as you, except that I have borla headers. I'm going to jet coat mine. I was going to paint it, but it's still going to flake. had a buddy that repainted his. and i was going to heat wrap it, but yea we have that big hood vent and when the moisture gets in there, it's over, your bound to crack the thing.

Jet and swain is your best bet.

Well Full Race says the headers are no longer under warranty since I'm not the original owner, guess I'll have to pain them myself tonight. Keeping my finger's crossed they'll come out the way I want them to. I'll post some pics once I'm done.
