rattle from downpipe install

I had my 3" downpipe and exhaust installed today by a local muffler shop which ended up being run by an old fashioned man who didnt want to read directions or listen to a word my "computer friendly ***" said.Afterr trying to tell him he was putting the test pipe on wrong, he did it anyway and refused to rewire the O2 bung because he didnt care what the directions said.I can fix the test pipe myself but now I have this awful rattle when i First start the car and also when turning and accelerating.I cannot figure this out,Has this possibly happpenned to someone else or any suggestions what it might be.the sound sounds like that of a CV joint kind of popping.thanks fellow EVO lovers.

it could be the downpipe rubbing on the cross members. Is it a custom downpipe? Make sure he didn't torque the sprung bolts to the O2 housing too th tight, they need a lil spring flexability.

My exhaust was rattling too when i installed it. I looked under my car and i found that the main pipe going from the cat to the canister was hitting the driveshaft brace. I put a piece of insulation on the pipe so it wouldnt rattle.

Ditto on the cross braces. Happened here also. Even though it may not be touching when looking at it, during idle it makes more movement due to enging idling a little "Lumpy". I had to space mine a little more than what Buschur gave me in spacers.

actually I checked for the clearance and it is not touching a thing.Maybe the bolts could be too tight hmmm.Yes I want my money back, but I doubt I can get it and really dont want the guy to try to fix the problem since he wouldnt listen the first time.I think Im headed to my Honda only mechanic for a favor,TO BORROW HIS LIFT HOPEFULLY and some expertise.Hope I can talk him into working on the EVO, about the only guy to trust around here.thanks

Oh yeah no need to worry about clearance its Ultimate Racing downpipe and test pipe. I wouldnt think in any means this is the products fault.

Still sounds like the downpipe is brushing the two lower crossmember braces. Easy test... use 2-3 washers to space them down a bit, if the rattle is gone, you're golden.
