Well does anyone know if Jiffy Lube uses synthetic or regular oil? And btw, just read this:
http://www.triumphspitfire.com/Oiltest.html
But there is little indication that the brand or weight needs to be given serious consideration, and synthetic oil has no discernible advantage over the old stand-bys.
Guess somebody did test it...

My wife doesn't understand why I use fully synthetic on our vehicles. Maybe I should have her read this thread.

the best way to explain to a wify,,, is the fact that longer drain intervals means less harm to the enviroment.

also synthetic means better gas milleage and a more reliable vehicle,, less parts break,,, means more money in her pocket to spend in shoes,,,, she will love this on

Were not talking about gunk, buildup or wear and tear. Were talking about "expensive motor changes" in your own words. You say "go ahead and do that and then we will talk", what are you talking about? I never said anything about not liking synthetic and there is no need to repeat yourself.

I expect more professionalism from a vendor.

Your vendors don't like it because of any results they think it may or may not give the customer...they like it because it's cheap sh*t that they can throw into their package deals and increase their profit margin. The dealership I worked for stopped selling it because it did nothing, costs money, and did nothing. Injector cleaner is such garbage these days...there are so many detergents and fuel system cleaners in gas already. The graphite stuff...please, the oil lubricates the parts already. You sell garbage to people who don't care what they sell so long as it makes them more money. The least you can do is just admit it. At least then you are honest, unlike the dealerships that buy from you.
