your post #7 is correct but suggesting that tdc might work is incorrect.
Sorry to bump an old thread but does anyone know the part number for replacement valve seals? I cant find them on Mitsubishiparts.net parts look up. Also has anyone actually done this in their Evo? What cuases them to to go bad especially if your only in the 50-80k range. Seems premature to me. High light cams? Aftermarket spring?
Thanks,
Thanks,
I remember a thread where the owner had installed upgraded valve springs and then had oil burning issues. It turned out the springs required different seals. The new springs hit the OEM seals. Sorry, I don't remember what springs these were.
Id love to hear anyone's input on this or find some aftermarket seals or even stock one! Or how to replace them.
When I ran the supertech dual valve springs I had the stock size valve stem seals and this cause an oil burning issue. Due to the fact that the stock valve seals were being pulled off by the springs.
What you need are the smaller diameter seals.
I believe AMS has them listed on their site (that is by no means an endorsement, just a place that I saw them when I was looking).
I hope that helps.

Somebody must still sell these seals though. I looked on buschur MAP and AMS and they dont have aftermarket ones or OEM ones. I cant even find the part number for the stock ones. How are there not more people having this same problem? I mean i thought many people used the beehive springs. And i KNOW a lot of people are running the S2's.
Side note. While searching MAPerformance's website i see that they have their own beehive spring design. When i ordered my cams and springs from them i was under the impression that both were GSC brand. The cams were drop shipped from GSC in a GSC package and had a GSC stamp on them. The springs came from MAP. I feel like i paid for GSC springs and got theirs..... Im not saying MAPs springs are not good but it just kinda bothers me. I remember getting the box and it NOT saying GSC anywhere on it. But i didnt think too much of it as it did says beehive spring Evo VIII or something like that.
How difficult are the seals to replace? I was going to bleed my lifters anyway so i can get in there and access everything but id like to do the method without removing the valves. Is that possible. Like pressurize the cylinder and use the special tool to put the springs back on....
