in the last two pics it has three marks on it, it seems to be evenly spaced apart from each other, it also has smaller marks that are not visible in the pics, all the marks are spaced evenly apart

^^^ yeah it does. but hell, at least I caught this before it became something more serious.

Since it's already out I'll just ship it to John Shepherd.

the only thing is this thing doesnt seem heavy duty enough to be a tooth off of a gear. it is very light. I guess it's not made of alumminum though or it wouldnt have stuck to the magnet.

Busted teeth

I had busted teeth like that in my tranny also. It turned out to be the final drive gear. I ended up having to replace my first gear and the final drive gear. I went with a 9 first gear that's a little taller and stock final drive gear (4.56). You could go with a 4.11 instead but it costs alot more.

Was your tranny making much noise? Mine sounded like a cv joint gone bad at low speed and got quieter the faster I went. As I remember, I had a group of about ten teeth nearly completely gone. If you stick a magnent in the drain hole and fish around you could probably pull out some more teeth.

I drove my car to shep and had him rebuild the tc and trany and change my timing belts. Good guy, nice shop, great service.

John

actually I had no symptoms from this. the only reason I was draining the tranny is because I'm having to rebuild my quartermaster clutch since it is slipping.

luckily I already have the tranny out, so it'll be easy to rebuild the clutch and also fix the tranny.

It's crazy that I didnt have any symptoms from this
