Evo 9 MR BOV vs Tomei BOV

Whats the difference? How much boost do these BOVs hold and how much do they hold crushed?

If you've owned either 1 tell us about your experience PSI? boost leak test? hold long u been running it etc...?

Running the Tomei BOV... no problems at all...curently running 25PSI... also holds boost up to 30PSI without any issues...

Don't think that there are any differents between those two BOV's?!

the tomei has stiffer spring and will hold more boost than a evo9 metal bov. No drivability issues also for the tomei, really a nice piece.

Tomei installed a few years ago, been a great recirc valve, no issues, never had any issues holding boost and it's stealth too.

Crushing a BOV is the last thing you wanna do. It's something that DSMers did 10 years ago when we didn't know any better. To correctly mod an IX BOV to seal over 25psi, you can do the "Gus/Dodge Garage/Dejon" mod. That is, plug the fast release port on the bottom and drill a hole on the side to vent it instead. This will keep the pressure on top of the diaphragm always greater than on the valve face. In my experience, it barely affects the valve's ability to release quickly on throttle lift.

We ran 35psi on a stock 1G DSM BOV with this mod. I've even done it to a plastic VIII valve and it works just as well, although the plastic valve seats tend to leak a little at any pressure.

ix bov is good till 26ish, if you crush it u can hold little more, why don't u just get a APS bov, or synapse Synchronic bov?. If the synapse BOV was smaller, I'd get that since it holds boost like a champ and it don't flutter at all, but aps is also a good choice.

Supposedly the IX DV w/o crushing will hold about 25#. The only problem is that uncrushed they start opening at about 11#, which really hinders spoolup and hurts midrange torque production. Crushed, mine easily holds 26-27#.

I tested a stock VIII and IX BOV, the plastic VIII held to about 14psi before starting to open, and the IX metal valve held about 24psi before the cracking point. Once I performed the leak-stop mod, they both held as much as my regulator would put out (75psi I believe). The only difference at that point was the fact that the plastic one always seeps a little air past the valve seat because it doesn't seal as well as the metal valve even when it's fully closed.
