Evo 8 Turbo Questions

Ok, so I own a 2005 Evo 8. I am looking to make some more power now but with the stock turbo.

I currently have an AEM V2 intake with the K&N Typhoon filter and CF heatsheild, TurboXS UTEC, I am soon going to have a 3" Straight pipe from the downpipe back with a 3" downpipe. I also have Precision 770cc injectors on all stock rail and lines.

So I'm wondering what I should do?

I figured that I should get a tubular header, larger 02 housing, and port the turbo? A larger intercooler and pipes should help out alot, should I also port the intake manifol or go with a sheet metal one? I don't have a ton of cash to play with so I'm kind of limited when it comes to certain brands and price ranges.

I'm shooting for around 360-380whp when I'm done. But what I'm really shooting for is too be pushed way back in the seat when I get on the throttle and to throw it around a turn with some force

For 360-380 whp on stock turbo you'd need either some injection or some good cams (maybe more aggresive than your HKS 262? I thought there were only 264)

The simply one word answer to your question is...

E85.

I agree.

I put my 05 Evo at 334whp (308wtq) on DTM's Mustang Dyno with the stock turbo. If you figure a 12% to 15% lower reading, than on a DynoJet that's like 374-384whp. BTW at the time of the dyno tune I had HKS 272's not the Cossie M2's. Although I have a built bottom end this can be done safely on the stock internals, I'm actually in the process of putting on my larger turbo kit now. LOL stand by for new numbers!

yea they are.

so get some 272's intake/exhaust, straight 3" exhaust, ported intake manifold and turbo, 02 housing, I/C with piping and this might give me the potential to make up to 360-380awhp?

the car already has Carillo Rods and JE pistons and for some reason my stock WG will hold around 28-30 psi

Also a good choice if you have plenty of E-85 pumps in your area. Boone should have at least a few with all the tree huggers up there! LOL Just playin, my brother went to school up there.

You do not have to run meth, I'm on pump gas.

you dont have to go with a tubular mani unless your going for the bling factor, get ur stock ported, works just as good if not better!! and its bulletproof!!! bigger IC and lower IC pipe is a must!!

e85 or meth are great because it allows you to safely boost higher levels but if its not available its not the end of the world!!

an O2 housing is a good idea, if you dont want to spend alot of money porting your stock does alot of good too... but o2 housings are cheap get a megan one, good bang for the buck, or if you want to spend some money get an o2 dump!!! they allow you to spool faster, which will help alot in autox and to put u in the back of your seat!!

your cams are not much better then stock, if you are sticking with the stock turbo for a while i would go with a gsc s1 cam, GREAT cam for stock block/turbo/head!!!

go with a 1000cc injector and a walboro and then get a tune

if your running e85 or meth with this set up youll be looking at around 400!!!! and a great time

all for under 2000 if you look around the for sale forums!!!

i made 388hp and 390tq on the stock turbo. i had 264/272 hks cams, 10.5 hotside, meth, 3in ex, custom o2 dump 680 inj. buschur upper, lower pipes and intercooler. tuned by ivey at 28 psi. on a dynojet so bigger cams would put that close on a mustang. im sure a race gas tune would also help

Thanks for the info guys..

I think my last dyno left me at 310AWHP, so i just can't imagine what 380-400 would be up here in the mountains. We really don't have many Evo's in the area, there are only 2 in Watauga County and one of them is mine. I kind of went against the grain with the Evo because this IS Subaru country, everyone has a WRX or STI.

If anyone wants too and has a chance you should come up here after the salt clears off the roads.. I'm in a local club called WNCRides.com, we have a blast, it would be nice to see some new faces and some nice Evo's for a change
