ACD Delete / Removal ?

I have had the 3 lights of doom for years on my 05 w/ACD (code is for a dead ACD pump). When I key the ignition and holding the gas down does turn on the pump. So I believe it sometimes does work. Now, I have never noticed it in AXing or tracking. I am thinking of doing a few things.

Search rendered nothing of interest.

The test:
Pull the fuse for the ACD unit. This will give me a 100% surety that the ACD is off/not working.

Post test:
If nothing happens, car reacts as it always has, pull the unit all together. Saves weight and I can route some piping up there for some cool air flow.

Now questions:
Has this been done? I know of some that have switched to a non-ACD TC in a ACD car that have removed theirs. But what happens if I just left took it off?

Can this be damaging to my beloved TC?

Thoughts welcome. I don't care to fix the pump...its $600ish and I've never noticed it.

What is confusing?

Ill run it short:
ACD pump broken. Want to remove. Any issues to this?

It can be just pressure sensor in acd pump. 100$ sensor.
We often have this failure on EDMs.

If you want to remove ACD pump, better to remove acd plates from transfer too. 03-04 gsr transfer has parts for conversion.

The MUT logger at the dealer pointed to the pump as the issue.

I've never seen an 03/04 TC up close. Are their provisions for the ACD pump in that housing and they are blocked off? If so, that makes it easier - just need the covers then.

I think your best bet will be to replace your TC with a 03 or 04 TC. Depending upon how the ACD works, the connection between the front and rear wheels will either be too tight or too loose. If the pump compresses the clutch, your connection will be too loose. If it releases the clutch, your connection may be too tight. The non-ACD TC replaces the clutch with a viscous coupling, which was designed to slip at a certain F/R torque differential.

Cost prohibitive.

My guess is that it fails open. This allows for f and r freedom v. constant lock.

The gearing is 50/50, the ACD locks or unlocks how/when/if the front and rear wheels lock in rotation. In a turn, they unlock to allow different f/r wheel speeds. Then the unit relocks coming out of the turn...now if mine does not or has not worked. Then it always stay open out of the turn. Which is how it has felt in AXing. Just makes me remember to not gun it until straight.

I have a 05 Evo that HAD ACD. Bought a 03 Tcase w/o ACD of course.

Swapped the tougher diff into the 03 Tcase and now im ACDless w/ 05 diff.

I think if u pulled the fuse it would stop pumping fluid into the ACD Part of the Tcase, Inside the ACD part is a ton of clutches like an Auto tranny has and they will lock up eventually without fluid, I would hate to be running 60mph when that happens.

Ah, interesting. So far, still running, but mine could only be a partial failure.

Humm..03/04 TC housing might be doable.

find a stock 03-04 transfer case and take the diff out of ur 05 acd case... swap it into the 03-04. Basically making your tcase a 04 rs with the lsd. Now you can pull all the acd pump, lines..ect
