TRE or Sheps?

I actually have 2 questions. The first one is to anyone who have gotten their transmission rebuilt from either TRE or Sheps, what are the feedback and what do you guys recommend is better? The second question is has anyone used the WORKS stage 2 clutch and the WORKS Spin aluminum flywheel? Is it worth the money and durable? I'm trying to get everything by next month and much response will be appreciated.

Ppl that have done it at Shep recommend Shep. Ppl that did it at TRE recommend TRE. From the general knowledge on the forums, Shpe is a bit more customer friendly and faster but otherwise both companies do a good job at what they do. You can't go wrong either way.

About the clutch... Do it once, do it right, Exedy Twin HD. (And on topic: sorry I have no clue about the WORKS stage 2 clutch and their megaluminum flywheel, but clutch discussions usually end with Exedy Twin so might as well put it there from the start, however if you would like an intellectual answer about a clutch, the least you need to do is write what your car is used for, how it's used, is it your daily driver which must survive stop&go traffic too and so on... there is no 1-shot wonder solution for every application)

I would go with shep out of the two.

But you should look into the Bushwacker service from BR and http://www.jackstransmissions.com/in...9dd7199000ff34
he did all of my DSM transmissions and they handled all the abuse i could throw at it in my 9 second 2g and 11 second 14b 1g.

Look at what is included in the "stage" that you are interested in buying. Compare the services done. Call them and talk to them about what they do, and what equipment they have to do it. Then decide what you think will suit your needs.

The question is are you sending your tranny off to get built or having someone do it loacal to you?If you are sending it off i say go with shep or buschur. If you are having someone do it for you at a local shop.Pretty much your only option is go with jacks transmissions or TRE. The only bad thing about TRE is they are hard to get in touch with. I talked to TRE the other day on the phone and he said he was back in college. You will have to be patient with TRE.

I have my 6speed going to Jon @ TRE to get a race buildup... I trust him doing it and doing it well.

I believe both of the 2 big guns in the trans market do an excellent job. I just choose TRE because he seems to deal more with 6spds.

I can't speak for tre...but I would recommend shep.

just had my evo ix tranny rebuilt.

turnaround was awesome... packaging was grade A, and the car feels so much better.

I went with twin disc exedy ,, (HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS)

along with those I did works stainless clutchline and poly shifter cable bushings..

Having only ever dealt with Shep I say Shep. His prices are reasonable, turn around time is great, and I have never EVER found another business with customer service like his. Any customer we have w/ trans problems I recommend Shep.

Thanks for the feedbacks. Well my plan for this car is pretty much a mild build. Just minor bolt ons and about to boost up to 24 pounds with tuning at English Racing. Nothing more. And this was the clutch I was talking about. http://www.worksevo.com/store/produc...products_id=36. I made a mistake about the stage 2 thing when i first posted. Does Jack's Transmission do 6 speeds also? It seems like they only do 5 speed.

This is the set-up im running. Ud be amazed at how much longer 3rd and 4th gear is and if you have the supporting mods for it the boost pulls right threw the gears which is y i like it so much, Its awesome! Shep= good guys, good parts, and good work. I love my tranny its nice goes into gear good i can go on and on just about the trans. its worth it id recomend shep. But not knowing much about TRE or the BR trans i cant knock em im sure there good also.... but I know that when i needed my trans done i e-mailed both BR and TRE and neither of them responded Shep did so i went with shep and i couldnt be happier.

Good luck on your choice.

It is hard to tell you to take it to one shop over the other, they both do great work!

Thinking of doing the same. What do you expect the turn around time to be?
