Give me some help on a 4g63 motor swap into a 97 Mirage
ive been reading a lot of post on this topic and everybody has been telling me that ooh its not worth it it'll cost to much or just to get an evo. To tell you the truth i don't have that much money to buy an Evo so i thought i could just convert. In the last thread i read they said that they ran into to many problems but they didn't describe any. if I can just swap the 4g63 from an oldschool eclipes prob GST turbo then I would probably have to fabricate some motor mounts. My friend has a Turbo eclipse and he has an EVo 3 16g turbo kit but thats the problem.Doesn't the galants have a 2.4L 4g63 im in the process of buying a 97 Mirage but really want an evo and the have the body kits and everything but the most im worried about is the motor. I don't know what the process would be to swap and everything or what i would have to rewire. And i do not want to get the whole evo 5 or 6 front clip. Please help me. Im not sure about the revolution of the motor or tranny. If you have any info or a detailed site please help. Thanx in advance.

A 97 Mirage shares the front end for EVO's 4 thru 6.5. Only the EVO 1 thru 3 share the older style 95-99 4g63T. EVO 4 thru 9 share the newer style flipped 4g63. The other issue is the rear clip of the 97 Mirage WILL NOT accept the rear end drivetrain parts. You would have to weld an EVO 4-6 rear clip in order to have it be AWD. If it's not AWD what's the point?

I was going to say it would have been cheaper to do in an earlier Mirage as the older, cheaper, and arguably best bang for the buck motor in the world, non-flipped Evo 1-3 4G63 would basically bolt in. The rear diff bracket can be made fairly easily honestly and the earlier ones may have even had the holes for the carrier, I'm not sure. A guy in Colorado did it a long time ago with a 6 bolt 1G block and I don't recall him having any problems with the rear end.

I know there was a mirage in i think turbo magazine( i was actually reading the mag at my friends house) that did this conversion and make it awd. I know it had an evo 8 motor and breaks, i think an evo 5/6 trans and transfer case and i think the rear end was from an evo 4. Try doing an online search or even this forum.

Thats my man archie. Ull c more of his car to come in mags. Dont do it if u dont have the money. But their was a mirage evo swap coupe in NJ. He was selling it for 8g's. Buy one already built hands down. or have the joy of building it urself.

stock for stock, the mirage chassis is faster.

Well in that case i do want AWD so what year mirage should I get? I don't have alot of money like I said before. So if I get a older mirage i won't have to weld the evo 4 rear clip on it? I want an evo no matter what but a swap is the next best thing. Like that one guy said he got all his parts from an Eclipse. Well what year Mirage did you have and what evo did you convert it into. Thanks guys keep replying.
