Ideal motor for 5g mirage evo conversion???

i was wondering what motor would be an easy and reliable swap for a 5th generation mirage...since some friends and i are planning on doing an EVO V conversion???? 4g63t is out the window...since its gonna be too hard w/welding and the motor itself has to be turned 180 degrees.......what about a 4g93t??? or anything else....i need some feedback please help!!!!!! help a fellow car enthusiast out!

actually from what i can gather... there are TWO versions of the 4G63T engine... JDM vs DSM... the one you are thinking about is the DSM... which was only for certain cars made in the USA. outside of the US the engine is JDM which DOES fit 5G Mirages.

my issue with the JDM 4G63T in a 5G Mirage is that engine can over torque the factory tranny... any other tranny requires cutting and re-welding.

edit: oops, didn't realize how old this thread was.

My 94 mirage with dsm drivetrain has run 10.89 at 129 on 93 octane. The performance potential is obviously amazing. Whats even more amazing to me is no one has followed my footsteps. My car built two years ago. Its a good bit of work but well worth the effort.

I would use the dsm drivetrain in a 5g car. Much, much cheaper. Same power potential. If you are afraid of a motor mount swap the project is definately not for you.

But why would you want to do a 5G? The 4g is 150 pounds lighter, cheaper, and a way better loooking car.

i had a 94 galant... which uses the sohc 2.4L engine... i had plans of doin work to it because of the sleeper and originality factor... my dad told me i could mod it in a way to put a 4g63 dohc head on it.. well.. sadly i blew the tranny in the car and ended up selling it.. in my opnion there is no boundries when it comes to ideas... just how much u want it.. lol
i just loved that galant.. it wasnt the best looker or light weight.. but i loved the car.. and would of loved to see a non galant vr4 fast
